Hello Chloe,
I trust you are well. there are many reasons why one might break out with the occasional spots, some of these reasons could be washing your face frequently, over exfoliating and using harsh toners that contain alcohol, these dry out your oil glands which in turn makes them over produce causing skin to break out.
Other causes could be what you eat and changes in hormones. Drinking lots of water helps maintain your skins PH balance but doesnt kill the causing bacteria that causes breakouts. try using a mild soap that is anti bacterial and avoid using harsh toners especially if they contain alcohol.
I use the spot set from Mario Badescu, its a bit prizy but it has helped me loads and I dont break out anymore. His site will have more on what causes Acne and treating it, http://www.mariobadescu.com/education-acne.asp
Also try not to wash your face with hot water as not only will you burn it but also dry out your oil glands. And its always important to remember what might work for one person might not necessarily work for you especially if the causes are different.
I hope some of this information has been useful to you.
Good luck and best wishes,
Kamil

I have used sooo many spot treatments and none of them have worked for me, they have either made them worse or have made no difference at all....I know a fantastic Beautician from the Salon, George Ferreria, the one from the Salon that was no tv. He provides me with Microdermabrasion, after the first treatment, he got rid of ALL my black heads, got rid of most of my spot scars, I have had a total of 5 treatments and my skin looks and feels amazing, it really isn't a con. It has helped me so much and has boosted my confidence, See my modeling pics on facebook. Jake Heaton
P.S. I am now using Johnsons skincare range. it is bloody amazing. kind to your skin and keeps those spots away and minimizes those open pores....

microdermabrasion ive heard wonders about and will definately be trying at some point
but other than that lots of water and a healthy diet can help, good sleep as i seem to get more breakouts if im really run down, using steam to open up the pores before a mud mask is good everyonce in a while but not often and a basic cleansing routine

If your REALLY serious about getting rid of them for good...go to a dermo at the hospital and ask for "accutane"...it's a powerful drug and has some un-pleasant side effects but it's a miracle cure...it's mostly for "severe acne" but they generally give it to anybody who wants it...that's if your willing to put up with the nasty side effects
