Hello Hello

May 16th saw the unlikely alliance of fashion and comedy when top model Lara Stone married comedian David Walliams in a lavish ceremony in London.
The Dutch supermodel, whose credits include campaigns for Jaegar and Louis Vuitton, plus a recent stint on the Prada catwalk, kept the fashion world guessing up until the last minute as to which designer got the call to make the wedding dress.
In the end, Stone wore a specially-designed bridal gown by Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci. Corseted with gold beading on the shoulders, the cream silk-satin gown was a fitting homage to old-school glamour for the model who has famously and defiantly embraced her curves.
The ceremony took place at Claridges Hotel and the guest list included Lara’s friends Lily Donaldson and Tom Ford, plus David’s peers from the world of comedy including Alan Carr, James Corden and Matt Lucas.
Lara exercised a bride’s prerogative, and took the opportunity for a costume change for the evening reception held at Shoreditch House, switching to a gold haute couture mini-dress, also by Tisci.
A ceremony that was awash with stylish and quirky touches, such as cupcakes for leaving gifts and a popcorn wedding toast instead of champagne, the ceremony was a perfect match of European high-fashion and eccentric British wit.
A wedding that was as much about substance as style, Stone and Walliams made sure that the most anticipated celebrity wedding of the year did not disappoint.
